culture-the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.
communication-the imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium.
there are two forms of communication; content and form.
content-what is being said.
form-how it is being said
communication goes in a straight line from sender to receiver this is called the "Process Approach"
there are two farms of culture; high culture and low culture
high culture is best described by Matthew Arnold who invented the "literacy canon"
literacy canon-a body of work in fields such as art, literature and music which represents the best
the literacy canon contains work from great people such as; Homer, Shakespeare and John Steinbeck.
the literacy canon faces many problems "such as dead white guys theory", which is the fact all the people in the literacy canon are all dead white and old. also new works are excluded from the literacy canon.
dead white mans theory leaves no room for new modern works
Raymond Williams said "Culture is ordinary, culture is everywhere" which is the complete opposite to what Matthew Arnold said.
Richard Hoggart agrees with Matthew Arnold and says "popular culture is dumbed down we should be looking at the culture elites"
Pierre Bourdien also agrees with Matthew Arnold and says "people who don't know about high culture are uneducated"
the Leavis's say - pop culture can be addictive and there for it is dangerous"
pop culture contributes to our personal identity, anyone can take part in it, it stays relevant and it gives us common ground with others.
However it is addictive and dangerous, it is also manipulative and Is also dumbed down.

Coms and culture
Communication cam come in two forms; content and form.
Content-what is being said.
Form-how it is being said.
The way we analyse cummunication can sometimes be called ' The Process Approach'
Culture- the arts and other manifestations of human interllectual achievements regarded collectively.
Matthew Arnold defined culture by saying "The best that has been though and known"
He came up with the "literary canon" which defined "high culture" by containing works of art from great people such as; Homer, Shakespire,Dante ect. This is often critisized because it excludes mordern works and is often called "dead white guys theory" because it mainly contains dead white guys.

Words people Like and Dislike
After taking a survey on words people like and dislike, we came to the conclusion that the words people dislike the most are words that we tend to take out of context. such as literally, like, trust, sweat, moist and mint. These are words that we tent take out of context and use in the wrong manner for example instead of saying "that food was nice" one might say "that food was mint".
on the other hand words that people tented to like the most were adjectives such as, amazing, lush, inconvenient and naïve. These are words that mainly words that are positive and that may lift our spirits.
in conclusion to that, it is clear that although we frequently use out of context words in our daily vocabulary, they are still widely disliked. Also positive adjectives are liked a lot more.
